Hi, I’m Megan.
Thank you for visiting my site – I am so happy to share my work with you.
I live in a small town on the Kitsap Peninsula of western Washington called Port Orchard. My art studio is in my home that I happily share with my husband and daughter, our dogs Faith and Wrigley and our cat, Moxie. Together, we are lucky to be surrounded by water and mountains and extended family who regularly gather to cook and share meals. As a backdrop, the Puget Sound, ferries, shorebirds and salt water air feeds my soul. Other things that inspire my work are music, writing and visual journaling, cooking, curiosity and learning new things, travel, gardening, playing ping pong and in the summer, picking buckets of blackberries that I bake into pies.
I always knew I wanted to be an artist. As a freshman at the University of Puget Sound, I developed a chronic neuro-muscular disorder that reshaped my life and my path as an artist. My neurological disorder affects my mobility and has literally slowed my pace. It has called me to be more mindful and observant of my inner and outer landscape. As author Cheryl Strayed once said about a living with a difficult loss, the way forward is “to put yourself in the way of beauty”. My altered path has been lined with beautiful and meaningful experiences that I celebrate through creating art.
My paintings reflect the people and landscapes that inspire in me, delight and AWE. Painting and illustration are my way of marinating in those experiences. Standing before a blank canvas and using paint, brush, pen and written word to capture those moments of beauty and joy is pure magic: I love the process of making art. The relationship I have with each piece reflects a time and place meaningful to me. My hope is that I can invite you into that moment of awe with me.
Thank you for taking the time to view my work. I am deeply grateful for your interest and for supporting ART!
